We have a SAP system for which DB2 version is 9.7
we are planning to upgrade it to 10.1. but as per upgrade guide we have to run the db2setup with the root.
The problem is in our organisation we cant run the GUI with root.
In this case how can we execute the db2setup.
While installing sap application we run the setup from root with no gui option and open the another session ( with adm user) with gui option.
with db2setup is there any option like this

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.

You need to push back on the non-root install of DB2. There are limitations when performing non-root install that can cause a real pain in the future. If you are able have root for a SAP install I would imagine you can get it for DB2. All you need is access to xwindows. IBM DB2 9.7 for Linux, UNIX and Windows Information Center
Ok, then the easiest way is to edit a response file. Since you do not have access to the gui you will need to manually edit the file. We normally generate the response file on one system and then use it on others (with minor edits) that way our install are consistent. Take a look at the following link, it should be enough to get you started: IBM DB2 10.1 Information Center for Linux, UNIX, and Windows
DB2 comes with a sample response file you can edit for your needs.
