    Unanswered: syntax erroe

    SQL> alter tables EMPLOYEES
    2 MODIFY COLUMN (JOBCLASS varchar(2));
    alter tables EMPLOYEES
    *
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00940: invalid ALTER command

    It usually helps if you use valid syntax, and it is described in Oracle comprehensive documentation. Anyway:
