Unanswered: Backup on a Windows shared folder

On my DB2 server I have a Shared folder I want to backup to. Using net use, I saw that its name is \\10.51.10.10\Sharedfolder, so I've tried this:

BACKUP DATABASE myDB online TO \\10.51.10.10\Sharedfolder INCLUDE LOGS WITHOUT PROMPTING

but I've got SQL2036N. DB2 service runs as a domain user which is member of local Administrators group.

    Any ideas?

As far as I remember, db2 will backup to UNC paths provided that (a) the UNC path is correctly and fully specified and already exists, and (b) the domain-account running the instance service has full rights to the UNC path.

If in doubt, use RUNAS /USER:domain-account CMD (then enter the password for the domain-account that runs DB2 services), and a CMD window will open. Inside the resulting window see if you can create a file on the UNC path by COPY CON: \\10.51.10.10\Sharedfolder\myfile.txt, enter any text then press F6. If your UNC is valid and the domain-account has access then the file myfile.txt will be created OK. If there are errors then resolve those FIRST before you retry the backup.

Double check in the db2diag.log the exact spelling and format of the UNC name you supplied...
