    Unanswered: DB2 explain

    Hi,
    Am new in DB2, Can somebody tell me where to see the output of the db2 explain command.

    Am using DB2 V9.7 on Linux Machine,

    It is a system command called db2exfmt.

    If you are using a GUI, that GUI should fetch the result of the explain command from the explain tables. Example GUI: IBM Data Studio 4.1 , Control-Centre, DB Visualiser etc.

    If you are using a command line: use either db2expln or db2exfmt - these tools can send the explain output to the screen or to a file (refer to the on-line manuals for details).

    If you want to query the explain tables directly via SQL statements you are free to do that, but that is for more advanced users perhaps.
