Unanswered: restore on dpf failed during db-upgrade

    hello all,

i tried to restore database on 7 node partition.

    source : db2 v8.2 ese
    target : db2 v9.7 ese

restore went fine on all nodes ..on the last node restore completed, but got an error db was not upgraded to latest version. I tried to do it manually.
    i ended with the error

SQL0440N No authorized routine named "SYSIBMADM.DBMS_LOB.WRITE_TO_LOB" of type "FUNCTION" having compatible arguments was found on LINE NUMBER=1.

Pl. let me know any idea on how to over come this.

    -thanks...

    v8.2
    v9.1
    v9.5
    v9.7
I understood IBM allows to restore a database from up to two previous versions.
You seem to be restoring from three versions older than v9.7 - is it supported?
Either perform the upgrade in two steps (i.e. via one intervening version), or if practical consider HPU

    hi db2mor,

    thanks for your response,

yes, you are right, ideally we should migrate to 9.1 and then go to 9.7. but due to some other constraints we tried to restore to 9.7 directly.

i was expecting some issues like the one am facing, it came only on the last node. for rest of the nodes DB2 was able to migrate the database to latest version.

Diag says it is looking for some function, i doubt that would have existed in V8.* as well.

i did try to update the instance and no much difference...

may be this is better option: upgrade 8.2 to 9.1/9.5 & take backup and restore it to 9.7 machine

What you're trying to do is supported.

"Restore backup images in DB2 Version 9.7 that were backed up on DB2 Universal Database™ Version 8, DB2 Version 9.1, or DB2 Version 9.5."

IBM DB2 9.7 for Linux, UNIX and Windows Information Center

Open a pmr to report this error. Support may have a workaround.

    hi all,

its really strange that it worked when i updated the instance and i was able to connect to the database without any issues.

But still i have raised a pmr let me see what is the response from support.
