    Unanswered: Duplicates

I have a field for number entries to identify the Work Order number. Is there a way to prevent duplicate entries? This number will be unique to each work order so there should never be a duplicate number used.

    Thanks for any help.

Add a Unique index to the column.

I get an error preventing changes to linked tables. Is there a work around?

    yes
    fix your data first
    then change the index

in furture design your db first so that these sort of issues don't exist in future
to fix your data run a series of queries that identify the problem rows
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton

If I had known this during the design I would have done it then. Unfortunately I did not allow for this.

At this point can I remove the links to the tables to make the change and then put them back without errors?
