Unanswered: SSIS over the internet secure?

We have a 3rd party company that needs to pull data from one of our SQL servers. They mentioned using we could push the data to them using SSIS. I don't know much about SSIS but will this be secure pushing data like this over the internet?

I bet the answer is a big fat "it depends"

SSIS has many methods of data transfer including the ability to use the FTP protocol and run .NET code. So it depends on which method you chose.

Perhaps you should consider exporting the data in to a flat file, encrypting the file then SFTP'ing the resultant documents to your 3rd party?
