Unanswered: Importing Databse via MySQL Workbench

    Hi All

I need to take *.sql database file and set that database up on my machine. I have no idea what I am doing. Is anyone able to offer some instruction as to how this can be done?

I have MySQL and MySQL Workbench 6.0 (Build 6.0.6.11184) installed and no clue how to proceed.

I have been playing around and at this stage I seem to have two(?) db going.

Any help any one is able to offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Shaun

because workbench is a MySQL product it can do the 'round trip' on any MySQL DB. so you can reverse engineer a db, you can also send the SQL directly to the server to create the db and the tables (along with nay views or queries you have drawn up in workbench. This assumes that you have supplied a valid user ID with adequate permissions. I forget what the option is called, offhand it may be 'forward engineer' (ie commit the design to the DB, as opposed to 'reverse engineer' which extracts the design from the db

you can also export the SQL if you soi wish
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
