    Unanswered: unable to connect to database

    I have a database with below details :-

    =>db2 list db directory

    System Database Directory

    Number of entries in the directory = 1

    Database 1 entry:

    Database alias = TEST123
    Database name = TEST
    Local database directory = /u01/TEST/db
    Database release level = d.00
    Comment =
    Directory entry type = Indirect
    Catalog database partition number = 0
    Alternate server hostname =
    Alternate server port number =
    Could not connect to the database when tried with dbname

    /=>db2 connect to TEST
    SQL1013N The database alias name or database name "TEST" could not be found.

    I am able to connect to the database with Alias name.
    /=>db2 connect to TEST123

    Database Connection Information

    Database server = DB2/AIX64 9.7.3
    SQL authorization ID = tstusr
    Local database alias = TEST123

    Wanted to know if we can connect to the database with dbname or I should use only Alias .

    Thank you
