Unanswered: DB2v97 Force Application all Win2008r2 Fails
An automated routine using a tool called HPSA fails to RESTORE due to "database in use" on a 5th (small 4GB lookup table) DB is added to a 64bit Win 2008 R2 server with 2 VCPs (VMWARE) months later. The Application ID is a local defined ID with ADMIN rights. However the tool uses the local system account to run a routine that forces application all 5 times sleeps a few minutes and repeats the loop a couple of hundred times. It runs these database restores this way sequentially so as to not step on other toes.
This is a complex packaging system to make lookup (600+) tables available on about 120 servers nationwide that several online applications use.
It restores the original 4 databases that the server was built with in about 10 each starting at 3 AM. By 5:00 we are getting paged and a manual restore of the network pushed backup image, from packaging servers run in a few minutes just fine.
if more details would have been supplied, we could give some ideas
what is the problem ?
what caused the problem ?
who is doing what ??

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
Spoon feeding : To treat (another) in a way that discourages independent thought or action, as by overindulgence.
