Dears,

We've two oracle database server (ver: 10.2.0.4.0) which are clustered in RAC mode. (obviously they both have private, public and vip)
According to my understanding, when one of these nodes get faulty (listener or instance down), the vip should move across the surviving nodes (in my case another node). Is it correct ?
Actually it doesn't happen ...

"nodeapps status" on both nodes:
VIP is running on node: node1
GSD is running on node: node1
Listener is running on node: node1
ONS daemon is running on node: node1

"olsnodes status" on both nodes:
node1 node1-vip
node2 node2-vip

"onsctl ping" on both nodes:
Number of onsconfiguration retrieved, numcfg = 2
onscfg[0]
{node = node1, port = 6200}
Adding remote host node1:6200
onscfg[1]
{node = node2, port = 6200}
Adding remote host node2:6200
ons is running ...

Can you please tell me if I understood the VIP terminology ? and why the VIP is not switching over to other node ?

Thanks,
