    Unanswered: delete hanged

    Hello forum members,

Recently i upgraded my db from v 9.7 to 10.5 fp 1 on AIX. under an archival activity my application is deleting some 5600 rows from parent table linked with child table (on delete cascade).

i am already deleting child data (with no errors) first to avoid cascade overhead but still my delete activity get hanged each time.

I shut down my all applications and make a dedicated connection. i wait for about 20 mins still control not returned to application. no exception is thrown.

Can any body suggest what may be the reason.

    thanks in advance

    - any message in db2diag.log?
    - do you have enough online logs?
    - any lock waits?

Anyway, you may try deleting data in batches - let's say 100 rows - and commit.

    Thanks aflorin27,

    - any message in db2diag.log?
    NO
    - do you have enough online logs?

    PRIMARY 13 and SECONDARY 232

    - any lock waits?

Applications server instance is shut down before this activity and only one connection by DBA is made. Do you think still table may be in lock wait.

I want to clear one thing. Before upgrade every thing was going well, but after we upgraded to v 10.5 . our archival process fails every time and not even run once successfully.

    any clues please ?

    regards
