    Hi,

    it's just a guess from my side, but i had the same Issue, too.
    The Instance-Upgrade starts the Instance. If Applications try to connect to their databases meanwhile the Upgrades fails.
    Two Options:
    set SVCENAME to another Port oder deactivate DB2COMM=TCPIP
    And then try the Upgrade again.

    We ran into the same thing, users kept trying to connect while we were trying to upgrade. You could simply unplug the network cable, or temporarily disable networking also.
