    Unanswered: Problem with oracle external tables

    I have a dat file having the follwing entries

    11 , 202 , 3000 , aamit ,21314151
    12 , 203 , 3001 , rakesh ,21314152
    13 , 204 , 3005 , rajesh ,21314153
    14 , 205 , 3009 , mac ,21314154


    I want to load 1st,3rd and 5th columns from the dat file to my external table.

    How will I pick selective columns from the file while creating my external table.


    please advice

    External table? Use all columns from the file, and then - when selecting values from the external table - select only the ones you're interested in.
