Unanswered: Affects of changing the timezone- 10g

    Hi

We need to change the offset on the DBTIMEZONE of the DB from GMT-4 to GMT+4.

Could someone please advise if this will affect the already loaded data in any way?

    E.g.,
In the file there's a datetime column as below:
    Code:
    datetime
    201401211115
The formula being applied in the loader is:
    Code:
    TO_DATE(datetime,'YYYYMMDDHH24MI')+4/24
Therefore the datetime column in the database shows
    Code:
    datetime
    21/01/2014 15:15:00
Could somone please give an example of the effects of changing the DBTIMEZONE? Thanks.

    Regards

    Cool

It will affect columns with the following datatype:

TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE -- Data will be preserved in the timezone it was written

TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE -- May need to be converted, in fact if you change the database time zone you may get an error.

DATE and TIMESTAMP Datatype's will be unaffected.
