Unanswered: How to compare tables ??

    Hi guys,

    here is the scenario :
    #1 - Two servers (Server1 and Server2)
    #2 - Two databases (Server1/DB1 and Server2/DB2)

Problem : I need to compare the tables in the two dbs, in order to find out if there are differences in common tables.

Question : is there any tool that i could run to compare the dbs/tables ? This tool should create a report to tell me if it finds differences between common tables in the dbs ?

    Environment :
    DB2 - v9.7.0.8
    OS - 7.1.0.0 (AIX)

you could activate federation and create nicknames on one system to have access to both tables from different db/systems in single query..
all these commands are documented in infocenter : look for federation and see if applies

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.

yes, if tables are in different databases you can not say :
    select xx from tab1,tab2 where...
if tab1 and tab2 are located in different db
this is only possible if table1 is local and table2 is nickname to different db
you could create nicknames on sysibm tables to compare ddl

IBM DataStudio for Comparission inside a DB.
DataArchitect two Compare two DBs iirc.

    Third Party: Aqua Data Studio
There are more Tools in the market, but that's what i use.

Or you can do it on your own if you compare the Catalogs for the Databases...
