    Unanswered: db2 file DB2VEND

    Dear forum members

    Platform : db2 10.1 LUW on RHEL 5

    I can see a db2 related file as mentioned below in direcrory <instance_home>/sqllib/tmp

    prw-------. 1 db2insts db2iadm1 0 Jan 31 09:40 DB2VEND.STDIN.0.1.1391141414358355

    Can anyone suggest what this file is an why it is created with size 0 bytes ?

    This is a pipe. As the name suggested, it's related to db2vend process. I believe pipes are used to communicate with db2vend. In v10.1, I noticed they're created/removed during db2start/db2stop. If you kill db2vend, db2 will restart the process and recreate the pipes.
