    Unanswered: Numbers, = Number1 - Number2

    Hi,

I am a new Access user and trying to get things as close to correct as I can from the start.

Lets say I have a table of numbers (or text):
    203
    309
    507
    100

I want to use the same numbers (or text) but join them to each other in a new field (or table) like this:
    203 - 309
    507 - 203
    100 - 309

I would need to pick which number goes with another.
I want to reuse what I have in the first field (or table) so if one number changes, the change will be reflected in the joined field. Is there a way to do this with a table, or do I need to use a query (I have no experience with queries)?

    What about

    203 - 507
    203 - 100
    309 - 203
    etc

    ?

What rule means that you get the 3 results you've provided?

I would like to select which goes with which and concatenate them. There is no particular order and it could be numbers or text.

if there is no particular order and the value could be a number or string then how do you expect to be able to match / link up. often the first step is to clearly define the problem and then think about the implementation

...so without thinking in terms of implementation how would you manually go about associating these two values
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
