    Unanswered: Data extraction

I have produced a mySQL database that records visits to an advice centre and now want to extract some data. The table of interest is called ‘advice’ and contains fields adviceid, area and type. (Area is a legal area and type is the type of help given. There are currently 6 different areas and 5 types.)

The table I want is of area against type where the result in each cell is the total for each combination.

Currently I do it by producing a separate total for each cell but I know that is inefficient and doesn’t automatically allow for new areas to be added.

Can anyone offer help or point to examples?

    Many thanks

I think what you are looking for is a pivot table
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
