Unanswered: Ibm db2 database creation is slow on very fast machine but fast on slow machine

The creation of empty database (IBM DB2 9.7 ) on Xeon CPU E5-1620, 8 core, 8GB, windows 7 is taking approximately 5.30 minutes.
But on similar software configuration using Core2Duo processor takes 2.00 minutes
Also, saving of data is very slow on the fast machine.
Kindly, let me know the reasons for slowdown of creation of database on Xeon processor?

    32-bit or 64-bit db2?
    which edition of db2? (personal/ workgroup/ enterprise / advanced enterprise ?)
Where are the database(s) stored - local hard disks? SAN?
what evidence is in the db2diag.log and the eventvwr ?
How long does the command db2sampl take to complete?

Why talk CPU when you have an I/O problem? Look what happens when you create a database: the CPU is picking its nose while the disks are very busy...
Somewhere between " too small" and " too large" lies the size that is just right.
