Unanswered: Building CTL file for excel

    Hi all,

I want to ask about building CTL file for data insertion.
How do I build the CTL file to import .xls file ?
I know this is a simple question but i really need it for my project and you help is greatly appreciated.

Secondly, how do I skip column insertion in building database from excel table?

    Regards

if the file is actually & really an honest to goodness *.xls file, then SQL*Loader can't use it
*.XLS file is a binary format that is proprietary to MicroSoft.

SQL*Loader can be used to load a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file.
to "skip a column" then use the Keyword FILLER.

You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
