You need to run dos commands for that, this has really nothing to do with brilliant database.

See here for example of how to find out a user name from an IP

How to lookup a user name and machine name using an IP address (on windows)

    Regards

I was thinking of identifying the workstation where the BD user logged-in to the database. I checked your suggested solution but it requires the IP address, so my next problem is to identify the IP address. I only need the LAN solution to identify the name of the workstation and then its user. Thanks James.

you maybe able to get the computer name using the environ variable, how you'd do that in BD I don't know
    ...shelling out to DOS
is there a way of modifying the API call thats used in Access (google dev ashish API for some ideas)
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
