    Unanswered: Suggestion on database schema

    Hi folks,

I need some suggestion on how to design the db schema for my project.
So i need to design inventory system in a fabrication situation.

    So for example,

    1. Item A consist of couple sub-items such as
    a. item a1 with all the attributes such as weight, length, etc.
    b. item a2 with all the attributes as well
    d. etc...

I have an idea about using nested table but I am not sure if this is a good solution because it needs to be expandable to thousands of items without burdening the database process.

    Thanks a lot

    Nested tables should be avoided.

You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

To get you going, check out the "Inventory" section.
