    Hello,

So if the device existed , you cannot create one with the same name.
previously it is used by one application for the log device and
The device cannot be initialized because it was already used and allocated before.
If raw file, recreate it to be empty and can be used and initialized by disk init.
If filesystem delete it and the disk init will create it once again.

The basis_dsizecheck also indicates a size issue. This comes up bc your device is full (previously used/allocated). Or if the device does not exist, you are setting the wrong size for it.

But based on what you said, it seems the first case, already exists.

eventhough the disk is used by the old application , now that server is removed(decommsioned) and the sizes are known to us how much each disk is holding

here d510 is assigned 1 gb , could you tell me is it not possible to use the whole 1gb for the new device creation

its not the error actually , when these disks are ordered, then some space is used by them ,due to that when we give 1gb its not considering but when when i gave 970 mb it had taken it

    so the issued got fixed.

    thanks for the inputs
