Unanswered: Problem upgrading from DB2 LUW V9.7 to V10

I'm tetting ready to upgrade from DB2 9.7fp5 on and AIX server to V10.1fp3. I'm getting an error running DB2CKUPGRADE:

[IBM][CLI Driver][DB2/AIX64] SQL0444N Routine "*ARIABLES" (specific name "REG_LIST_VARIABLES") is implemented with code in library or path "...tine/db2dbroutext", function "reg_list_variables" which cannot be accessed. Reason code: "5". SQLSTATE=42724

I find this error in the diaglog:
    NSTANCE: db2inst1 NODE : 000
    APPID : *LOCAL.db2inst1.140327133913
    EDUID : 1 EDUNAME: db2fmp32 (25195) 0

0509-153 File /databases/db2inst1/sqllib/bin/routine/db2dbroutext is not an archive or
the file could not be read properly.
0509-026 System error: Cannot run a file that does not have a valid format.

I've updated the test versions of the databases (which are restores from production) with no problem. The DBM config, DB configs, and DB2SET parameters are all the same. The permissions on the file are the same on the servers that work and the ones that don't work. Any idea of what could be causing this?

Looks like the shared object may be corrupted. Try nm (if available) of dump on it.

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.

Sorry, typo. I meant nm or dump utilities. nm is a GNU utility, but may be installed on AIX. dump is an AIX program.
