Unanswered: Migrating database to another server

I need to migrate postgresql database from one server to another in the company I work in.

This is the article I refer to :

PostgreSQL: Documentation: 8.3: Backup and Restore

However, I was wondering is there anything I have do in the original database server before migrating?

There are replications happening all the time in the original database server, so is it safe to directly execute the commands given in the guide above?

Disable replication before you move the database, then re-enable replication when the database move is complete.

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
