I can assure you that nobody here has any idea what you are talking about.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

    Arrow

only a blindman can understand other blindman I guess

Technically, I have to move the a1,a2 into Parentid -1

basically sorting out the uncategorized columns in a particular parent table.

would appericiate if anyone may help this regard with a query

someone got a job or a homework assignment they were woefully unprepared for.
“If one brings so much courage to this world the world has to kill them or break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” Earnest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms.

    Still not following.
Don't assume we know anything about your structure, data, your problem at hand, etc, etc.

You need to provide a clearer question, some sample data, desired results to at least get the ball rolling.

    Hi Team,

Sorry for lack of information prior

This is what I have been trying do here is the sample with case statement

    UPDATE - catid
    SET parentid =
    ( CASE
    WHEN catid = 80 THEN 600
    WHEN catid = 7 THEN 500
    WHEN cateid = 1 THEN 455
    else(parentid)
    END
    )

    I'm able to update
Each catid is inserted into different parentid as per requirement.

I would also like to link the catid with Parentid.

and make it a automated process using case statement.

    Please advise.

The term "parent" is not from RDBMS; it is an old mag tape and later network database concept. Unless you are dealing with domestic animals, there is no "cat_id" in RDBMS; a category has to be a "<something in particular>_category". There is no generic, magical "category" in a valid data model.

Please post DDL so we can fix what looks like a bad schema.
