    Unanswered: Contains with escape character

    Hi everybody,
I'm a bit flustered here trying to figure this out:

    Using: SQLDeveloper 1.5.5 connected to

    Oracle Enterprise 11g 11.2.0.3.0

Using a simple contains query with NO escape characters gives correct result:

select count(*) from mytable where contains (mycol, 'test') > 0

but when I do HAVE escape characters I get 0 hits.

select count(*) from mytable where contains (mycol, '{test}') > 0

Can anybody give me a clue as to this strange behavior with escape characters?

    thank you!

    Contains with escape

    Hi everybody,

When I use "CONTAINS" without escape chars, I get the correct result, e.g.,

select count(*) from mytable where contains (mycol, 'test') > 0

But when I USE escape chars around "test", I get 0 hits:

select count(*) from mytable where contains (mycol, '{test}') > 0

Does anybody have any idea what is happening?

I'm using SQLDeveloper 1.5.5 connected to Oracle 11g 11.2.0.3.0 Enterprise edition...

    thanks in advance!
