    Thumbs up Unanswered: Listener Configuration

    Dear all,

    I am installing Oracle 11g R2 on Windows 2008 platform. I have installed software successfully and created database but OEM console is not starting.

    I have checked Listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files but could not identify the issue.

    However, I noticed that the Listener.ora is picking Localhost for the HOST which should not be the case since the server was assigned a name on our domain.
    See below listener status
    ============

    I have used the netca utility and deleted and reconfigured the Listener and Tnsnames but these are not working

    I have checked Environment variables and used the deinstall utility to uninstall restart server and reinstall more than 3 times but the issue still persist.

    My issue now is how should I configure the Listener NOT to pick the HOST as localhost but rather pick the domain name of the server?

    Your earliest advises are most welcome.

    1) stop the listener
    2) rename or remove listener.ora file since it is NOT required to start or use listener
    3) start the listener
    4) post results from lsnrctl status

    Dear Anacedent,

    I carried out a few alternatives - I used the netca and deleted the listener , and redefined the ORACLE_HOSTNAME in the Environment variable , restarted the server and reconfigured the listener with the netca.

    I carried out your instrucation and below is the lsnrctl status result.

    You can see that the listener is not connecting to any host(highlight below)

    =======================

    Do you mean "OEM console is not starting" or "DBConsole is not starting"?
    90% of users' problems can be resolved by punching them - the other 10% by switching off their PCs.

    >(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=SBTRAIN . BSICGHANA.COM)(PORT=1521)))

    Listener now knows correct HOSTNAME (see above)
