A DBForums member that frequents the Oracle forum objected to this post because it was not Oracle specific. The message thread where this post appeared was ten years old, and I wasn't willing to try to explain that Oracle actually is a SQL dialect, not the entire SQL universe.
Since this post did contain current, useful information I decided to move the post here rather than start a protracted discussion about what SQL is and the ensuing religious wars that could have touched off. Enjoy!
