    Question Unanswered: Pl/sql

    I am trying to parse a comma delimited field.

    I hope I can make this make sense.

    I have a column in an Oracle table that holds data like this: 'HHH,PPP,RRR' (with out the single quote).

    What I am trying to do is pull the values out and store them into variables like this:

    var1 = 'HHH'
    var2 = 'PPP'
    var3 = 'RRR'

    The number of string values separated by commas can be +/- 3. There is no set number.

    Would I use a loop for this? If so, how?

    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
    The average person thinks he's above average!
    For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
    Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
