    Unanswered: Need tablespace increase info

    Hi ,

While increasing the tablespace how to decide whether we have to add container or resize the existing container or extend the tablespace container.
What is the maximum size of the tablespace from it we cannot increase the tablespace. How to calculate this?

Can anyone elaborate this with example.

    Thanks in advance

limits and maxsize are documented in infocenter depending on pagesize and other..
if current filesystem is full you can still add container on different filesystem

    Hi,

So If we add the container, rebalancing process takes place. But if we extend the existing container then will rebalancing done or not?

Also while increasing the tablespace we have to give preference for extending the existing container? correct?

Yes, I would turn autoresize on if there is still space available on current filesystems and monitor free space in containers and reclaim if needed
