Unanswered: the mystery DDL trigger vs. the sysadmin

    SQL Server 2012....

A database from another server and team was backed up and placed on my dev server. I am a sysadmin on the dev box. There are no DDL triggers on this machine. However whenever I try to change any DDL in this database it is complaining about a missing DDL audit table. This thing is drving me a little nuts this morning.
“If one brings so much courage to this world the world has to kill them or break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” Earnest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms.

Check out DDL Events, specifically CREATE_DATABASE_AUDIT_SPECIFICATION since that's the most likely culprit based on what you've described so far.

Nice thanks. I just saw that weirdness in the trace. I have never used those. I should get back to reading more database stuff again. I am all signed up for 24 hours of PASS though.

We really need to try to get you to the "left coast Washington" for the Summit this fall. You'd have a ball and learn so much that your head might explode (in a good way)!

My client (and former employer) is making me a real nice permanent offer this week or next and they seem to be sending people to conferences all of the sudden and they are spending real money on training for a change, so it is possible.
