    Unanswered: backup,restore and recover problem

    Hi all,

    Environment Db2 LUW 10.1 on RHEL5

I am facing situation where my delta inc. backup size is coming very large even more than baseline full backup. no much transactions has been done in db why it is so ?

    online full inc. backup:
    -rw------- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 167845888 Jun 24 10:20 DBMSTC.0.db2inst1.DBPART000.20140624101934.001

    online delta backup:
    -rw------- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 184627200 Jun 24 10:50 DBMSTC.0.db2inst1.DBPART000.20140624104841.001

    what is the reason ?

    please suggest.

    regards

Have you compared the database size (before backup) to assess its growth? (data added with the load utility will not go via transaction logs).
Did you verify (from the db_history) that both backups completed without error and used exactly the same options as regards what was backed up, whether compression was enabled etc.

database size (before backup) to assess its growth : yes checked full bakup bytes = 167845888 and delta bkp bytes 184627200

    no load on db

    no compression

    no errors in backup

command are same except backup destination paths

    thanks

    Hi,

an incremental backup contains full syscatspace, and not an incremental copy of this tablespace.
Lookig at your backup sizes I assume that most of your backup size is syscatspace.
    Regards,
    Mark.
