    Unanswered: Linking Access MDB from SQL Database using sp_addlinkedserver

    I tried this syntax in SQL Mngt Studio which i got from SQL HELP menu.

    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
    @server = 'Test2',
    @provider = 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',
    @srvproduct = 'OLE DB Provider for Jet',
    @datasrc = 'C:\MSOffice\bonus.mdb'
    GO

    Linked is created but when i tried to open the table from bonus.mdb using the linked servers-Test2-Catalogs-System Catalogs-default-Tables the tables are not showing and throwing an error of

    OLE DB provider ....... for linked server "Test2" reported an error. Authentication Failed. Cannot initialize... Please i need you immediate response for my problem.

    Are you using Windows Authentication?
    On the windows side; do you have access to that folder on disk?

    Windows file-system security is getting in your way then. You see, windows doesn't let just anyone fiddle with its files...

    Have a play with the linked server properties. You will have to impersonate a windows authenticated login
