    Unanswered: syscat table privileges

I have an user who needs to access db2 catalog tables (SYSCAT schema..) for some reason.

I don't intend to give more that what is needed.. what would be my list of options here.

Can we grant select privileges on SYSCAT tables at an individual user level. I remember reading it somewhere that we cannot issue grant select/insert/...priviliges on SYSCAT tables..

The only option that I can think of is EXPLAIN or DATAACCESS privilege on db, that would allow him to access syscat tables. I prefer EXPLAIN over DATAACCESS because it is more restrictive..

Any thoughts or experiences will be greatly appreciated..

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
