Unanswered: Editing peachtree lineitem.dat file to clean up
I am looking for a solution to edit an existing lineitem.dat file in order to remove the corrupted data and replace it with the data from an xls file to get a clean dat file in the end.
Any help or advice to do this would be greatly appreciated.
What kind of corruption are you talking about? Are you getting an error? If so, what error?
What version of Peachtree?
What version of Pervasive.SQL / Btrieve?
Do you have DDFs for the tables and can you access the tables through ODBC?

I do not answer questions by email. Please post on the forum.
it is an I/O error 58.
Peachtree 2005 complete.
I don't know which version of Pervasive.SQL / Btrieve it is ?
I don't have the DDFs for the tables, I don't know if I can you access the tables through ODBC.
My issue is to manage importing the data i have rebuilt in an Xls file back in the new company I created to get it into that lineitem.dat file.
So far I have started to import the data into peachtree breaking down that xls file in smaller files, I suspect some of that original file has some bad data in it. Alternatively I am looking at copying that data into a brand new file.
Any help is welcome.
I think I made some progress, I have the lineitem.dat but only in a read mode.
Can you help and tell me how to update the file properties to be able to have it in read/write mode ?
If I get to that point, this would be great,
Thank you for getting back to me, I would really appreciate your input.
Editing eachtree peachtree lineitem.dat file to clean up
I moved the lineitem.dat file out of the company folder then restarted peachtree and open the company again at which point a window poped up telling me the file lineitem.dat was missing and asking me whether I wanted to create a new one. I answered yes and it did create a new lineitem.dat file. At that point I can import *.csv file in to the items list and enter new items.
I hope I do not have any more corrupted records in that lineitem.dat, is there any way to check this out?
Thanks for getting back to me.
