Unanswered: SQL Server Agent Wont start

    Hey all,

So im running a Sql server 2014 express right now.

The problem is that I cant launch the Server Agent

this is the error log ( its from a site with someone who had the same error, mine would be in german)

    Code:
2008-01-17 11:04:40 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 15247, User does not have permission to perform this action. [SQLSTATE 42000] (DisableAgentXPs)
2008-01-17 11:04:40 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 229, The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'sp_sqlagent_has_server_access', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (ConnIsLoginSysAdmin)
2008-01-17 11:04:40 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 229, The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'sp_sqlagent_get_startup_info', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'. [SQLSTATE 42000]
2008-01-17 11:04:40 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 229, The INSERT permission was denied on the object 'syssessions', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'. [SQLSTATE 42000]
    2008-01-17 11:04:40 - ! [000] Error creating a new session
    2008-01-17 11:04:41 - ? [098] SQLServerAgent terminated (normally)
I already get that the usergroup doesnt have enough permission. However,
my problem is how do i grant permisson oder even better how do i change the usergroup to a already existing group with administrative permissions.

If you check Features Supported by the Editions of SQL Server 2014 (it ought to display in German for you), you'll see that SQL Server Agent is not supported for SQL Server Express 2014. I'm pretty sure that it isn't supposed to work.

You can script the tasks and schedule them via Windows Scheduler

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
