    Unanswered: SET or Join query I can't figure out!

    tblCRMLS_Roster format

    field [city] Long Name text I want the short [CityID] data here

    TblCityAreaList

    field [CityName] LongName text
    field [CityID] Short Name text

    What Im trying to do here is replace the Long [city] name in tblCRMLS_Roster with the (cityID] short name from the tblCityAreaList

    I just can't understand the correct structure for joins and SET.

    Thanks . . . Rick

    here's what I've got
    Code:
    SELECT tblCRMLS_Roster.City, tblCityAreaList.CityID
    FROM tblCRMLS_Roster INNER JOIN tblCityAreaList ON tblCRMLS_Roster.City = tblCityAreaList.CityName;

    Query Completed . . .

    This Works!

    Code:
    UPDATE tblCRMLS_Roster INNER JOIN tblCityAreaList ON tblCRMLS_Roster.City = tblCityAreaList.CityName SET tblCRMLS_Roster.City = tblCityAreaList.CityID;
    Hope it helps someone.
