    Unanswered: Crystal Variables

    I would like to save information in a variable that will not be printed until the group is printed in crystal report. Can someone help me with this? I am fairly new to Crystal.

    Lightbulb variable three part in Crystal Reports

    For example, you'll collect two text fields from a detail row and place a fence between pairs to make a long string. This assumes a relatively small data set.

    1) formula (Crystal Syntax) init_MyVariableString
    You will place init_MyVariable in a. Report header b. header of section where you want to use it
    whileprintingrecords;
    global stringVar gMyVariableString := '';
    gMyVariableString;

    2) formula update_MyVariableString
    you will place this in the section, below the above mentioned header, where you gather the calculation -- in our example, the detail section. You can suppress it or have it on a suppressed row.
    whileprintingrecords;
    global stringVar gMyVariableString;
    gMyVariableString := gMyVariableString + ' | ' + [my field] + ' ' + [my field];
    gMyVariableString;

    3) formula display_MyVariableString
    you will place this in the spot where you'll display it.
    whileprintingrecords;
    global stringVar gMyVariableString;
    gMyVariableString;
