    Unanswered: pg_relation_filepath('filename') function

    Hi all,
    Could someone comment in this issue, I have looked in the web with no luck,
    the function pg_relation_filepath seems to be missing.

    running....

    echo " select version()" | psql asx

    PostgreSQL 8.4.20 on i386-redhat-linux-gnu, compiled by GCC gcc (GCC) 4.4.7 20120313 (Red Hat 4.4.7-4), 32-bit

    $ echo "select proname from pg_catalog.pg_proc;" | psql postgres | grep relation
    pg_relation_size
    pg_relation_size
    pg_total_relation_size

    !!!!!!! pg_relation_filepath is not listed.

    running..... shows the following tables

    -bash-4.1$ echo "\dt" | psql db
    List of relations
    Schema | Name | Type | Owner
    --------+----------------------+-------+----------
    public | filter | table | mcorders
    public | order_cancel_record | table | mcorders
    public | order_cancel_result | table | mcorders
    public | order_display_fields | table | mcorders
    public | order_record | table | mcorders
    public | system | table | mcorders
    public | user | table | mcorders
    (7 rows)

    $ echo " select pg_relation_filepath('user')" | psql db

    ERROR: function pg_relation_filepath(unknown) does not exist
    LINE 1: select pg_relation_filepath('user')
    ^
    HINT: No function matches the given name and argument types. You might need to add explicit type casts.

    Based on the output that you posted, you appear to be using Postgresql version 8.4.20. According to Determining Disk Usage, version 8.4.20 of Postgresql doesn't support the pg_relation_filepath() function.

    In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
