Unanswered: Clarification in using open cursor command

    Hi ,
I have a clarification in increasing open cursor parameter in oracle database.

If i want to increase open cursor parameter to higher value , should i restart the database ?Also can you confirm
the command to increase open cursor parameter to higher value ?

alter system set open_cursors = 400 or something like it should used scope=both at the end of the command ?

    Oracle -- 11gr1
    OS -- Linux 2.6

    Regards,
    Srinivas

When all else fails, Read The Fine Manual

I bet you are unaware that OPEN_CURSORS is a per SESSION value.
Do you really have a situation where a single session requires more than 400 concurrent cursors?
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
