Unanswered: Control Source - dlookup won't populate table (Access 2010)

I have multiple dlookup formulas that extract patient demographic data from a master table of patient/members on one single form. All of the dlookups work (=DLookUp("[Patient_Name]","tblMembers","[HICN]='" & [Forms]![frmTransitionIntervention]![HICN] & "'") however, once the form populates the data, the "looked-up" data is not being saved to the table.

I have placed the dlookup formula in the Control Source on the Property sheet. I'm sure this is an easy fix but can't find anything on the web. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    1. Paul has given you links to several workarounds for this, but the short answer is that the Control Source holds the name of the Field, on the underlying Table, that the data is Bound to (and hence is a Bound Control)
    2. Holds a Formula or Expression that evaluates to the data to be displayed (the Control Source does not contain a Field name, and hence is UnBound.)

So, the Control Source can be populated by #1 or #2, but not by both!

    Hope this helps!

The problem with making anything that fools are so darn ingenious!
