    Unanswered: indexes

    hello , a question as I'm new in DB2
With Teradata , each time that we insert new registers in the table , it is recommanded to do an Update Statistics of the indexes
With DB2, I know that it depend of many factors , but when we insert registers, it is also recommanded to do the same o something similar like re create the indexes ?

1- If the table contains volatile datas
1- If the table contains history datas

    Thanks

You can use the RUNSTATS command to collect statistics on tables. Consider using SAMPLING in RUNSTATS to avoid long runtimes.

If your tables have volatile data, define them as VOLATILE. The optimizer takes that into consideration when generating the access plan.

If the table contains history data (ie, table data does not change) , then no need to collect statistics again.
