    Answered: Heat Map Help

    I can put icon on top of a image save data into table

    MapID PK
    MAP = filename.pnp
    Icon = the Icon (metal,Glass,Hole,bla,bla,bla
    Plotx = percentage down from top of map
    Ploty = percentage from right
    ADate = date plotted
    comments =

    I can print the report which plots the icon on top of the map base on its Ploty% and Plotx%

    why percentage if change the size of the map if stays the same place .

    Looks A miss when I have Heaps of icons on the Maps in one place

    SO............................................

    I want to create a Heat map

    what i have done is all done in QuerySSSSSSSSSS so far

    Just the X plot

    GroupX = int(Plotx * 10) so this is a number 1 to 10

    now Groupby the Map and count the numbers of GroupX happy tell me how many in each 10th of the map

    now i find the Min and the Max base on the groupby of the map Now I know the Heat of it ie close to the Max the HOTTER it is

    did the same for the Y point

    and HAPPY CAMPER

    BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    what I want help with is

    Ploting the GroupX and GroupY and I get a total in that square this is where im brain dead

    any Ideas
    have I miss something

    ...interesting
    have you got some sample data and a rough idea of what you are looking for

    off hand Im slightly confused at the need for the icon, usually when Ive seen heat maps they are effectivley expressing a frequency map of XY co-ordinates. adding a 3rd dimension (the icon) would be tricky to represent

    off hand I think it should be possible to do this in one of several ways
    as self coloured boxes (controls) on a form or report, create the boxes as required.
    ...write to a PDF file as a PD document (not too sure Ive seen a direct PDF library avaialbel in Access (such as the ones available for PHP and similar). My reason for going downt hat appraoch is that you may hit a memory issue, especially with a report.
    ...do a similar sort of thing with a PNG / GIF or JPEG.

    it may be the way to handle this is to shell out to another process that create the image layers.

    just tihginking out aloud I wonder if Access image control can handle ov erlapping iomages and through use of transparency/alpha c hannelk blending allow images underenath to appear through superimposed images).

    I do seem to rememebr that Access had serious problems in the past with image controls consuming vast amounts of memory.

    I know the number of counts in a square i want can put a Square one the top of the Map and set the background colour to the Heat number
    eg if the max was 10 points in the Square and said Square had 9 of them the background colour would be Redsh

    here is the data for Y

    Map GroupitY CCY
    P3RL24.png 7 1
    P3RL29.png 4 1
    P4 EVA HALL.png 7 3
    P4 EVA HALL.png 9 1

    data X

    Map GroupitX CCX
    P3RL24.png 7 1
    P3RL29.png 7 1
    P4 EVA HALL.png 8 3
    P4 EVA HALL.png 9 1
    P4RL10.png 8 1

    so this is telling me on the Image P4 EVA HALL.png and between 7 and 8 or 70% and 80% of the Down Y I have 3 points
    and is also telling me on the Image P4 EVA HALL.png and between 8 and 9 or 80% and 90% of the left X I have 3 points

    so putting it all as one in my head i can see
    that 70% down the map and 80% across will be a reder square than and other 90% to 100% of the Map as it only has 1 point

    I know what I want I know had to code it I lost in get the Heat value of joining the XY as one point

    Im think down the lines that if there is on one point then dont put a heat square there other wise u wont see the map LOL

    I reading this again Im getting lost now arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr brain dead already
