    Unanswered: Releasing unused DB connections

    Hello All

We have an reporting application which talks to SYBASE DB and version of SYBASE DB is,

    12.0.1.3046
    Sybase IQ/15.4.0.3046/141204/P/ESD 5/Enterprise Linux64 - x86_64 - 2.6.18-194.el5/64bit/2014-12-04 17:24:15

The application has been developed by a third party vendor.

The problem we see when a report is shown in the application it is not releasing DB connections immediately.

When we run "sp_iqconnection" we see the DB connections still exist and gets released after 5 or 10 minutes.

We can run "DROP CONNECTION" command to release DB connection immediately, but we need to know on
what basis a DB connection can be released? Whether it can be Idle time of the connection or by any other parameter?

Also how do we find that the connection has done its job and pulled the data from Database.

    Please help.

I think iq is not user friendly to give session information. Sp_iqcontext procedure can help you to give details of connections.
