Unanswered: SQL Server Hardware Verification Scripts?
I'm new to SQL and the project I am on requires a 2014 Std. installation. I requested generous specs from the virtualization team & expressed in great detail this was to be a production sql database w/ high intensive disk I/O. My question is before I go pointing our application at the box in UAT, how can I make sure there are no hardware snafu's that surface when we start taking live traffic / heavy load?

An awful lot depends on what kind of snafus you expect and/or want to avoid. These range from huge problems (insufficient RAM, storage, bandwidth, or CPU), to minor problems (such as failing to page align data files on LUNs), to subtle but critical things (such as improper NUMA or bus configuration of the VM host).
