Would you like to be part of a development team and work with business functions on the creation of solutions? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Information Systems Engineer (Developer) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

As a Senior Information Systems Engineer (Developer), you will be engaged in the full systems development lifecycle undertaking business analysis, developing, implementing and testing.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Information Systems Engineer (Developer) will involve:

• Discuss and analyse business requirements and distil this detail to expose business needs.
• {PS..0}Produce agreed specifications and communicate these to team members.
• Convert business needs into systems solutions in a pragmatic manner ensuring adherence to architectural intent.
• {PS..1}Maintain a good understanding of the IT application landscape, architectural principles and IT roadmaps.
• Database design, management and tuning ability with MS SQL Server or Oracle.
• {PS..2}Use sound software engineering principles and apply them within agile development methods, specifically DSDM.
• Establish and maintain robust linkages between support, development, architecture, business analysis, project management and IT operational functions.
• {PS..3}Delivery of application support.
• Manage incidents and problems from definition to resolution ensuring root cause elimination and operational improvement effectiveness.

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Information Systems Engineer (Developer) will ideally include:

• {PS..4}Experience in a system development role covering full lifecycle.
• Understand and appreciation of service delivery frameworks such as ITIL.
• {PS..5}Database design, management and tuning ability with MS SQL Server or Oracle.
• SQL experience
• {PS..6}Experience of working in a IS development function in a range of analysis or software development activities
• Demonstrated business knowledge ideally within Maritime Submarines or relevant manufacturing/ engineering sectors.
• {PS..7}Knowledge of ASP.NET, C#, Java, JavaScript, CSS, HTML.
• Excellent communication and customer facing skills.

Also, you should be able to efficiently work with minimal supervision, achieve results and meet project deadlines with the highest standards of quality. Therefore, you would need to have strong technical and analytical skills, be a confident and good communicator at all levels of the organisation coupled with an excellent attention to detail.
