Software Engineer

Would you like a varied role within an interesting business area? We currently have an opportunity available for a Software Engineer to join us at our site in Cirencester.

As a Software Engineer, you will be working within a smaller part of Maritime Services, which has been set up for developing software, in particular, for the Royal Navy.

Your main responsibilities as a Software Engineer:

• Software Engineering to maintain and enhance UMMS (Unit Managed Maintenance System), RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) and feeds to external systems

• Liaising with the Deployed Systems Development and Test Teams

• Liaising with Customer support authorities

• Corrective code changes in live and development code bases

• Issuing data correction updates

• Supporting Package delivery to the UMMS Support Team Lead

• Conducting additional requirements as directed by the Services Manager

Your skills and qualifications as Software Engineer:

• Evidence of strong SQL Server skills is essential
• Experience of Microsoft Development tools, primarily C# or VB.NET is essential
• A levels/degree or equivalent in engineering, scientific, computing or numerate disciplines are preferred, or experience to offset
• Experience in the following is desirable:
• Oracle
• Java
• Knowledge of object orientation in theory and practice
• Entity Framework
• .NET 4.0
