Unanswered: postgresql and tomcat data source
I'm making the switch from sql server to postgresql.
I've done ok with creating tables.
I've struggled a bit with functions but i'm getting there.
So this is my first post as i've encountered something that i can't find a good answer to.
I want to get a local instance of the database up and running to test some stuff. I started looking into it and the answers seem to be variable.
Some are saying to access a local instance of postgresql and others are saying to create a postgresql data source on tomcat.
I already have tomcat running on my machine and i think i understand how to set up the postgresql data source.
My question is: Why would i do that?
You'll have to excuse my ignorance here but i'm mainly a programmer. I'm setting this all up with a view to doing something independent.
Would really appreciate some advice chaps and chapesses
